Ester Thunander is an unorthodox folk musician from south of Sweden, with an extensive repertoire in the Norwegian and Swedish traditions. With her practice in contemporary improvisation and the performing arts she writes music and improvises within the structures of traditional tunes and songs on fiddle, hardanger fiddle, voice and other surprises. As she moves from the old archives to a stage, she plays with expressions influenced by the blue notes, forests, mountains, spells and melancholy of modern scandi-land.
